The gardens of Marqueyssac are about 50 minutes from Gaytou and are situated on a ridge high above the Dordogne river. Covering some 22 hectares and with more than 6 kilometres of shaded paths, this is a parkland promenade on the grand scale. There are over 150,000 boxwood shrubs, many carved into fantastic shapes and patterns. Energetic and easy paths cater for all and the views from the belvedere, hanging more than 400 feet above the river, are breathtaking - as is the drop beneath your feet! The view encompasses Beynac, La Roque-Gageac, Domme and more. Candlelit promenades summer Thursdays, restaurant, picnic area and ample parking. The above villages and several well known chateaux are within easy reach to extend your outing if you wish.
