GENERAL

"Gaytou" - from the langue d'oc "guet" & "tous" meaning "to see all round" - is an old farm set in 15 acres off a quiet country road in northern Lot et Garonne just 5 minutes from the small town of Villeréal. The property consists of the original farmhouse, a large barn (converted and lived in by the owners - Bob & Maureen Lyall) and two other barns, all set around a central courtyard. With its heated swimming pool, gardens, walks, picnic spots and superb views, the fully renovated farmhouse offers comfortable, spacious and peaceful accommodation for up to four people and, with central heating and wood-burning stove, it has ALL YEAR ROUND APPEAL. Our aim at Gaytou is to make your holiday so enjoyable that you want to book for next year before you leave and, to get you off to a good start, you will find the arrival hamper * CLICK * contains everything you need for your first evening's meal and for breakfast the next day.

Gaytou's gîte is a vocation rather than a business; service with satisfaction is our goal, not total profit.

THE HOUSE

The house, part of which is believed to date back over 200 years, has been carefully renovated to restore the original character and is maintained, furnished and equipped to the highest of standards with the emphasis throughout on comfort, convenience and quality. Full central heating is available at any time without cost. The accommodation *CLICK*comprises:

1. Steps down to tiled patio, door to bright and sunny veranda/conservatory with cane chairs and table.

2. Large dining kitchen equipped to a very high standard with fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, gas cooker, electric grill, coffee machine, electric kettle, etc. Matched cutlery, crockery and glassware. Full range of pans and kitchen utensils. Double sink, large work surfaces and extensive cupboards.

3. Spacious, comfortably furnished lounge with high ceiling and fan. Settees, bookcase, desk, coffee table, etc. Satellite TV, video library, library, board games; woodburner stove.

4. Large hall with telephone (incoming and local outgoing calls are free, telephone cards available for long distance & international calls) leading to bedrooms. Bedroom One: Double bed and separate bathroom . Bedroom Two: Twin single beds and separate shower room. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans, wardrobes, dressing tables, chairs, bedside tables/lights and large windows with great views. Bath and shower rooms are both modern and up to date and each has its own w.c.

We do the change-overs ourselves - that way we know the house is always at its best for arriving guests.

SWIMMING POOL

At Gaytou there is a 12m x 6m floodlit pool (the path to the pool can be illuminated to give night time access) surrounded by a large sun terrace with flower border and planters. The pool - open May to September - has solar heating and is shared with the discreet and friendly owners. There are separate shade awnings and sun loungers (with mattresses) for guests and owners alike. The depth of the pool *CLICK* varies from 1m to 2.1m and the shallow end area measures 6m x 4m. Please note that, although the pool has electronic surveillance, it is NOT FENCED and that you are requested to bring your own pool towels.

With resident owners you are assured of a pool maintained to the highest of standards without the excessive use of chemicals.

OTHER FACILITIES

From the kitchen, a path leads to a picnic table (which can be floodlit at night) set beneath a magnificent horse chestnut tree and there are further tables and chairs outside the covered veranda. There is a moveable barbecue and also boule and skittles, plus a couple of bikes for the energetic.

If it is essential that you bring your work with you and will have need of bureau services - fax, photocopier, e-mail - our office facilities can be made available at cost.

THE GROUNDS

Gaytou's 15 acres give the property a special appeal. Around the buildings there are almost two acres of lawn and gravelled courtyard with borders, mature trees and many recently planted specimen trees and shrubs; in summer the courtyard is filled with flowers. Although no longer a working farm, part of the land is under cultivation and the remainder is left to nature; through all of this runs a well-mown path, with picnic spots, giving guests the opportunity to explore. The views from Gaytou *CLICK* are superb, particularly from the hill overlooking the farm and wild flowers flourish, especially in spring and early summer. Buzzards, kites, kestrels, deer, red squirrels and the like are frequently seen.

Because we live here and it is our home, you are guaranteed regularly cut lawns, weeded borders and raked gravel in the courtyard.

VILLEREAL AND THE SURROUNDING AREA

The attractive small Bastide town of Villeréal with its squares, medieval market hall and arcades is just 5 minutes away by car. With its colourful market, shops and adjacent supermarket it provides for all everyday requirements. Apart from Villeréal, there are numerous other small bastides in the area and the larger towns of Bergerac and Villeneuve sur Lot are within 30-40 minutes drive. Although enjoying rural tranquillity, Gaytou is ideally situated for exploring and enjoying the numerous sites, attractions, sports and leisure activities *CLICK* of Lot et Garonne, the Dordogne and, if you wish, further afield. The region abounds with vineyards, chateaux, caves and places to visit; golf, canoeing, cycling and equestrianism are but a few of the activities available. We will endeavour to supply details of your particular interests should you require. Alternatively, you may prefer to simply laze by the pool and enjoy what Gaytou has to offer.

Finally, for eating out, Villeréal and the surrounding villages offer a wide range of restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets.

Gaytou, *CLICK* is within a day's drive from the Channel ports. From April to October inclusive, bookings are normally WEDNESDAY to WEDNESDAY to give easier travel and uninterrupted weekends; for the rest of the year booking dates are flexible.

BERGERAC AIRPORT IS JUST 30 MINUTES FROM GAYTOU AND THERE ARE LOW COST WEDNESDAY FLIGHTS FROM STANSTED & EAST MIDLANDS (www.ryanair.com) AND FROM SOUTHAMPTON, EXETER, MANCHESTER & BIRMINGHAM (www.flybe.com) SEVERAL CARRIERS OPERATE FROM VARIOUS UK AIRPORTS TO BORDEAUX AND TOULOUSE, EACH APPROXIMATELY TWO HOURS FROM GAYTOU.
